Liver Function Test

Liver Function Tests (LFTs) are imperative diagnostic assessing tools used to evaluate liver health and functionality. At Radiant Children’s Hospital, we recommend LFTs for pediatric patients to detect liver conditions, monitor liver-related disorders, or as part of routine check-ups when indicated by symptoms such as jaundice, fatigue, abdominal pain, or dark-colored urine. The test generally includes measuring levels of enzymes like ALT (Alanine Transaminase) and AST (Aspartate Transaminase), proteins such as albumin, and bilirubin levels to assess bile production and excretion. Before the test, parents should ensure the child follows any specific fasting or dietary restrictions as advised by their physician. The blood sample is taken with minimal discomfort, adhering to the highest standards of pediatric care. Results are generally available within 24–48 hours, and our specialists are on hand to illustrate findings and recommend follow-up actions if needed. At Radiant Children’s Hospital, we prioritize child-friendly practices to ensure a stress-free encounter for both patients and parents.

Post-Test Care: After the test, apply slight pressure to the site to prevent bruising. Encourage the child to rest and hydrate well.
Receiving Results: Test results are typically available within 24-48 hours. You will be notified via SMS, email, or hospital portal. Ensure a follow-up consultation with the referring doctor to interpret the results accurately.
Follow-Up: Based on the results, the doctor may recommend dietary changes, further tests, or treatment plans to ensure your child’s liver health.
